School Is Back In Session: V’Enza’s Top Tips For Back To School

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! The date has arrived to start prepping for school. Prepping productively could mean a more blissful transition from Summer to Fall for you and the whole family! By all means, you deserve a smooth transition after a long couple of months filled with work and family vacations. Get some time back with V’Enza’s top tips to sending your kiddos back to school.

Tots

Plan the night before

This one is a no-brainer! As you’ve probably done in the past, that precious time in-between dinner and your nightly routine can be filled with productive planning for the morning ahead. Have the hubby prep your tots for bed while you take the lead on making their lunches, packing their backpacks and laying out their clothes. That way you can take some extra time to relax right after! Teamwork makes the dream work.

Check their backpack day-of

Right after breakfast when the kids are right about to walk out the door, check those backpacks! Although you may have checked them the night before, who knows what they’ll sneak in there or take out when you’re not looking.

Teens

Go to the open house

Middle school and high school mean a whole new school layout, harder classes and different social circles for your kids! Make it easier by not only dipping your toes in the water but theirs too by going to the open house. This way you’ll get the lay of the land, meet the teachers and get a glimpse on whom your kid’s classmates are. Not only will it give you peace of mind, but also your child’s.

Read the syllabus online

Another no-brainer, but make sure to check out all the school documents including the syllabus so you can make sure your child is fully prepared for the syllabus week ahead. Worst case scenario during the first week of school is making time during your already busy week to go out to buy more supplies or fill out paperwork. Avoid that stress by reading everything their school sends you when they send it over to you.

Mini-Adults

Review their schedule

Your child is finally out of the house! On their own. Making their own choices and carving out their own lives. This may spell freedom at first, but prepare to feel the need to call them every day. To avoid doing that, review their schedule and find a time to give them a call once a week. That way you can guarantee to check in on them and they have the opportunity to ask for more beer money ;).

Get real with reality

During this weekly call, make sure to check in on their emotional well-being. Being on your own is a serious wake-up call! After the first couple of college parties and exams, reality starts seeping in. Financials, time management, and productivity are all components to a successful foundation that is made in college. So make sure they are prepared by offering tips and reminding them to have fun, but also...get real!

There you have it! Our top tips for preparing your kiddos for school! Planning, reviewing and reading are at the core of all prep no matter what stage your children are at in school. By prepping early, you save time! Maybe even buys you some more me-time too. What tip have you tried?
